CAMP PENDLETON, CA -- A statue of a warhorse serving in the Korean War will be dedicated at Camp Pendleton on Wednesday, the Marine Corps announced Monday.

The horse, Staff Sgt. Reckless, served with Recoilless Rifle Platoon, Anti-Tank Company, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division as a pack horse. The unit's platoon commander bought her at a racetrack in Seoul, Korea, during the Korean War and trained her to navigate supply routes by herself and evade enemy fire, according to the Marine Corps.

Camp Pendleton's Commanding General Brig. Gen. Kevin Killea will be joined by Korean War Veterans who served with Staff Sgt. Reckless and the Marine Corps Mounted Color Guard in dedicating the statue.
