Camp Pendleton Marine Killed in Afghanistan

Pfc. Steven P. Stevens II, 23, was killed during combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan Friday.

A Camp Pendleton Marine was killed during combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan Friday, base officials said in a release.

Pfc. Steven P. Stevens II, 23, of Tallahassee, was a combat engineer assigned to 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division.

Stevens enlisted in the Marine Corps on June 1, 2009.  This was his first deployment to Afghanistan.

His decorations include the Purple Heart Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the NATO Medal-ISAF Afghanistan.
