CHP To Conduct DUI Checkpoint Friday In North County
During the checkpoint, officers will look for signs that drivers are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

VALLEY CENTER, CA — A DUI checkpoint is scheduled this Friday in northern San Diego County.
The checkpoint will take place at an undisclosed location in the unincorporated community of Valley Center, according to the California Highway Patrol. During the checkpoint, officers will look for signs that drivers are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
"All too often, members of our community are senselessly injured or killed on our local roadways by intoxicated drivers," Capt. Brad Palmer said. "The mission of the CHP is to protect life and property for every person who lives, works, and travels in California. Removing impaired drivers saves lives, and that's our number one goal."

A sobriety checkpoint is a "proven effective tool for achieving this goal and is designed to augment existing patrol operations," according to the CHP. Depending on traffic, all vehicles will be checked for drivers who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
"Our objective is to send a clear message to individuals who consider driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs: You will be caught, and your vehicle will be towed away," Palmer said.
