CHP Investigating Fatal Crash on I-5

One man was killed Saturday night in a single-vehicle crash. Another crash Sunday morning closes Cristianitos Road.

An autopsy was pending Sunday on a man who died in a single-vehicle wreck on Interstate 5 north near Camp Pendleton.

The accident just south of Harbor Drive was reported at 9:29 p.m. Saturday, with the California Highway Patrol later confirming that a man died.

All northbound lanes were closed until about 10 p.m. to accommodate the
investigation.

In a separate incident, a pickup truck crashed into a power pole at the North Gate to Camp Pendleton Sunday, closing the road just east of Interstate 5.

No one was apparently hurt in the crash, which was reported to the CHP at 7:15 a.m.

Military police closed the north gate to the sprawling Marine base, and the CHP closed Cristianitos Road just eats of the interchange at the freeway.

Signs were being brought in to warn base traffic that a long-term closure would
be needed to allow SDG&E crews to repair the damage.
