City Officials to Move Forward with Coast Highway Plans

Oceanside leaders will take another step forward in their "Coast Highway Vision Plan."

City leaders will soon take another step toward rebuilding the Coast Highway.

Oceanside officials plan to hire a consultant to "develop several proposals for reworking Coast Highway in hopes of spurring a revitalization of the once vibrant area along the roadway," according to U-T San Diego.

The study, which may cost about $500,000, comes after the City Council adopted a “Coast Highway Vision Plan” in 2009 with the intention of making the area more "pedestrian-friendly and bicycle-friendly," according to the newspaper.
