Council Remains Split on Melrose Road Project
Some council members want federal aid on the project while others are looking to stop the request.

City Manager Peter Weiss said Oceanside officials will ask the federal government for aid on finishing a Melrose Drive project. However, Mayor Jim Wood and Councilwoman Esther Sanchez are urging them to reject the city’s request," according to a U-T San Diego report.
Councilmen Jerry Kern, Jack Feller and Gary Felien approved of the city making the road project a "priority" but the Mayor "said there’s little chance federal officials will give Oceanside money for a project that many people don’t want," according to the newspaper.
