Member of 1st Battalion, 7th Marines Killed in Afghanistan
Lance Cpl. Niall Cotisears, 23, of Arlington, Va., died June 23, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
Camp Pendleton's 1st Marine Division released the name of a Marine killed Saturday in Afghanistan.
Lance Cpl. Niall Cotisears, 23, of Arlington, died while conducting combat operations in Helmand province. He was a rifleman assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment. He was stationed at Twentynine Palms.
Cotisears enlisted in the Marine Corps on Dec. 29, 2008. This was his first deployment to Afghanistan.
His decorations include the Purple Heart Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
