Father: Marine Killed by Friendly Fire
Marine was killed by fellow Marines, father told the San Antonio Express-News.
The father of a Camp Pendleton Marine believes his son was killed by an American tank platoon.
Lance Cpl. Benjamin W. Schmidt, 24, of San Antonio, Texas, died Oct. 6 in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
David Schmidt told the San Antonio Express-News that he was informed by a Marine of the incident, even though the investigation is ongoing and added that he doesn't believe the military is trying to cover anything up.
