Video: Small Base Fire Continues

The fire near Camp Pendleton's main gate is now 10 acres and 80 percent contained.

A five-acre vegetation fire that started at about 2:10 p.m. Thursday near the main gate is now 10 acres and 80 percent contained, according to the Camp Pendleton Scout.

The fire has caused smoke inhalation injuries to three firefighters, according to the Camp Pendleton Fire Department. Two were treated on scene for minor injuries and a third was transported to a local medical facility.

The fire can be seen from the Marine Corps Exchange and from the South Mesa neighborhood according to reports. 

The fire does not currently pose a threat to base residents or the surrounding community.
