Former Base Commander Endorses Hodges for 76th District

Col. Nick Marano—who retired this year from a Camp Pendleton post—told Sherry Hodges' supporters that she understands challenges facing military families.

Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton’s former commander has endorsed candidate Sherry Hodges in the race for California Assembly, District 76.

Retired Col. Nick Marano chose Hodges over her opponent—Rocky Chavez—also a retired Marine colonel who served on the base. 

Marano told Hodges' supporters in a letter that she understands the challenges facing military families:

She shares the values of our military community and does not shy away from standing on those values. While we all want our political leaders to work together to solve problems, we also want them to stand on principles important to the community. Sherry has always shown the right balance of working together without violating her bedrock principles. With our state facing important choices on taxes, growth and the budget, we need Sherry in Sacramento giving voice to those principles.

This week, Chavez acquired an endorsement by Carlsbad City Councilwoman Farrah Douglas, who had been running against him.
