Renown Guitarist to Play for Free Thursday (Video)

Grammy nominated and platinum awarded-winning guitarist Frank Simes, of the glam-rock band Topcat, will perform for free at Sunset Market Thursday evening in Oceanside.

Simes is musical director and lead guitarist for Roger Daltrey and Don Felder, and has also recorded and performed with rock legends, including Mick Jagger, Don Henley of the Eagles, and Stevie Nicks, according to , which puts on the weekly market.

“We’re going to have a night of music like we’ve never had before,” said Kim Heim, director of special project at MainStreet Oceanside.

The special performance will be part of Sunset Market’s 5^th Anniversary celebration.

Heim remembers the first Sunset Market that required only two trucks and a trailer for logistic support.

The market now has some 7,000 attendees enjoying food, music and shopping each week during the summer, he added.

Heim recommends the market to new residents of Oceanside and Camp Pendleton.

“You can find out exactly what Oceanside is about by coming down to the market,” he said.

 is held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. west of Coast Highway on Pier View Way. 

The weekly  is held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays east of Coast Highway and Pier View Way. It is 20 years old, Heim said.
