Gallery: 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit Marines Train for Deployment

Marine Corps photographers capture training the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit conducted in anticipation for a November deployment to the Western Pacific.

Members of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit conducted two weeks of amphibious training on Camp Pendleton that wrapped up its six-month training cycle before it deploys to the Western Pacific next month.

For two weeks, the unit conducted training that included anti-pirate operations, amphibious assaults, helicopter raids and noncombatant evacuations.

Marines of the 1st Battalion 3rd Marines’ landing team, Helicopter Squadron 268 and Combat Logistics Battalion 11 made up the “green-side.” Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group was made up of the “blue-side,” or the Navy partners and included the USS Makin Island, the USS New Orleans, the USS Pearl Harbor and Amphibious Squadron 5.
