San Diego Reporter Recognized for Military Coverage
Gretel Kovach, of the U-T San Diego, was selected for two awards by the the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation.
U-T San Diego's military affairs reporter, Gretel Kovach, has been selected for two awards by the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation:
Major Megan McClung Award—Kovach's coverage from Afghanistan of the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment earned her this award.
General Oliver P. Smith Award—Kovach earned the award for her series on Sgt. Collin Raaz, a Marine double amputee injured by an improvised explosive device.
