I MEF Deploys Marines to Afghanistan
The Marines are expected to be deployed for a year.
Members of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force held a deployment ceremony on base Wednesday to mark their year-long deployment to Helmand province Afghanistan, the Los Angeles Times reports.
As the war drawd down, the Marines are working to gain the trust of Afghan civilians.
