- Breanna Wares, 39, an Oceanside USPS mail carrier, pleaded guilty to stealing from about 20 residents on her route. The mail carrier from Oceanside’s Brooks Street Station admitted to stealing over $2,000 in gift cards, cash, and jewelry from customers – most of whom lived on the U.S. Marine Corp Base Camp Pendleton and were active duty members. As part of her plea agreement, Wares will have to pay restitution to her victims. (FOX 5 San Diego)
- An Oceanside man was released from jail on Thursday with three years probation after a plea agreement for police impersonating charges. Michael Carmichael tried to pull over Alicia Engel near Camp Pendleton in 2021 while impersonating a San Diego deputy. He was charged with 10 felony counts and only pleaded guilty to two charges. After missing her opportunity to speak at the court hearing by a few minutes on Sep. 27, Engel said, "The system did not take us into consideration and I am scared for the safety of the people driving at night." (NBC San Diego)
- Two fallen soldiers assigned to Camp Pendleton will be honored today in a salute at a Veterans Day program in Grand Island, NE. The two men from Camp Pendleton are Marine Lance Corporal Kyle W. Codner, 19, who was killed in May 2004 by hostile action in Iraq; and Navy Petty Officer Third Class Eric L. Knott, 21, who was struck by enemy fire in Sep. 2004 in Iraq. Three other fallen soldiers will be honored during the program as well. (Grand Island Independent)
