Man Burned in Tuesday Morning Fire Dies
Officials are investigating what caused a fire that killed 61-year-old Oceanside resident Michael Orr.

An investigation was under way today into a residential fire that fatally injured a man in Oceanside.
at his home in the 2700 block of Lancelot Drive about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office and the Oceanside Fire Department.
"On arrival, firefighters were informed of an occupant trapped inside," Battalion Chief Joe Ward said. "Initial responding units pulled attack lines, made an aggressive offensive attack on the fire and initiated rescue operations."

Crews found Orr unconscious on the floor of a bathroom amid "near-zero visibility," Ward said.
Firefighters pulled Orr outside and performed CPR before taking him to Tri-City Medical Center, where, according to the Medical Examiner's Office, he was admitted in "extremely unstable" condition and died at 6:48 a.m.

Orr's wife was also home when the fire broke out but crawled out a small bathroom window and was unharmed, as was the family dog, Ward said.
The blaze was declared under control within about 40 minutes of the firefighters' arrival, a dispatcher said.
The cause remained under investigation.
