Man Fatally Shot In San Diego's North County

OCEANSIDE, CA — A man was shot to death over the weekend in northern San Diego County.

A shooting was reported around 11:15 a.m. Saturday near the 400 block of County Club Lane in Oceanside, according to the Oceanside Police Department. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound in a nearby canyon.

"Lifesaving measures were attempted but were unsuccessful," police said.

The man's name was withheld pending family notification.

Detectives from the department's Crimes of Violence Unit were investigating the case.
