- A production order amounting to $153.7 million has been placed by the Marine Corps for amphibious combat vehicles (ACVs). The order – placed with BAE Systems – comes after the Marine Corps authorized the waterborne use of ACVs again in September. The use was originally halted after an incident at Camp Pendleton in July where two ACVs became disabled in heavy surf. (Defense Daily Network)
- On Wednesday, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to move forward with plans for 'Calavo Park' in Spring Valley. The nine-acre park, with an $8.9 million budget, will feature pickleball courts, a dog area, a community garden, an all-wheel area, and more. Included in the plans is a proposal for a multi-use trail which would span from I-15 to Oceanside. (ABC 10 News San Diego KGTV)
- Elissa Fleak, a San Diego County supervising medical examiner’s investigator, has been awarded the COVID-19 Pandemic Civilian Service Medal. Fleak served on the National Disaster Medical System Mortuary Operational Response Team during the COVID-19 pandemic, where she was able to utilize her special skills regarding casualties. She was recognized for her "exemplary service to the nation." (Press Release Desk)
