Missing Teen Last Seen On Pala Indian Reservation Found Safe

A Feather Alert that was issued for her was lifted, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

FALLBROOK, CA — A teen who was last seen on Pala Indian Reservation in northern San Diego County was found safe, authorities announced Thursday night.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m. Thursday, detectives at the Valley Center Sheriff's Substation confirmed that Sunnie Eagleton, 17, was found safe and a Feather Alert that was issued for her was lifted, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

Sunnie ran away around 2 p.m. Saturday from the home she was staying at on the reservation, east of the community of Fallbrook, because she did not want to go back to Texas with her family, according to the sheriff's office.

The California Highway Patrol issued the alert Wednesday on behalf of the sheriff's office after the teen's mother reported her missing. Because she did not have a history of running away, she was considered to be at-risk, authorities said.

The Feather Alert is a tool used by law enforcement agencies to help find missing Indigenous people.
