Montford Point Marines Seek Members for National Recognition

Past Montford Point Marines should provide documentation to take part in the spring 2012 award ceremony.

Editor's Note: The following is from a Marine Corps announcement.

The Montford Point Marine Association is seeking Montford Point Marines and their military documentation so that they can be among those recognized with bronze replica medals when the Marines were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal.

The bill to award the Montford Point Marines the Congressional Gold Medal was signed by President Obama on Nov. 23, 2011, and the award ceremony is tentatively planned to be held in the spring of 2012, according to a Marine Corps release.
