Oceanside City Council Election 2020: 10 Compete For 2 Seats

Oceanside voters will elect council members to serve in District 3 and District 4.

OCEANSIDE, CA — Voters in two council districts will decide in Tuesday's general election which candidate they want to represent them on the Oceanside City Council.

Ten candidates are vying for two open seats on the council. The election of the District 3 and District 4 council members will complete the city's transition from at-large council elections to district elections that started in 2018.

Six candidates are competing for the District 3 seat. They include incumbent Ryan Keim, who was appointed to the council in January 2019 to fill the remaining two years in the at-large seat of Esther Sanchez after she was elected to the District 1 seat in 2018. The other candidates are Bill Batchelor, a businessman; Kellie Davis, a producer, businesswoman and writer; Shari Mackin, a retired Oceanside teacher; Amber Newman, a businessperson and nonprofit board member; and David Ian Zernik, a civil engineer.
