Oceanside Man Arrested After Attacking Brother With Samurai Sword: Police
A SWAT Team was called in to help arrest a man suspected of attacking his brother with a samurai sword.
OCEANSIDE, CA — A 30-year-old man from Oceanside was arrested Sunday after allegedly attacking a man with a samurai sword.
Officers from the Oceanside Police Department responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon around 6:35 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Arthur Avenue, according to Fox5.
Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering serious, but non-life- threatening injuries and he was taken to a hospital, the news outlet reported.

The police department told the station that the victim was the brother of the suspect, who was identified as Esteban Rivas.
Officers attempted contacting Rivas at his residence, but were unsuccessful and a SWAT team was called to assist. Rivas surrendered peacefully after a few hours and was taken into custody without further incident.

He was arrested on suspicion of mayhem and assault with a deadly weapon, the station reported, adding that he was being held without bail at the Vista Detention Facility, with a court appearance scheduled for Wednesday at the North Division Court.
