Oceanside Police To Host 'National Night Out' In August: What To Know
The family-friendly event will feature food vendors, games, raffles, live music, police and K-9 demos, police station tours and more.

OCEANSIDE, CA — The Oceanside Police Department will host its annual National Night Out event next week to bring the community together to take a stand against crime.
The department's annual event will take place from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5 at the Oceanside Police Department at 3855 Mission Ave.
The free, family-friendly event will feature food vendors, games, raffles, live music, police and K-9 demonstrations, police station tours, and the return of the popular "Dunk-a-Cop" tank. Free food vouchers will be given to the first 400 attendees, while supplies last.

National Night Out events, held by law enforcement agencies across the country, aim to promote strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, according to the annual community-building campaign.
The first National Night Out was held in the summer of 1984. More than 2.5 million community members across 23 states participated in the event.

Today, more than 38 million people across 17,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases celebrate National Night Out, with some law enforcement agencies hosting block parties, cookouts, festivals and parades as part of their events.
