Monday's Shooting Death Likely Gang Related

The suspect is still on the run. Witnesses reported seeing three men in dark clothes running away from the north Oceanside crime scene.

Authorities released the name today of a documented gang member fatally shot outside a North County home.

Patrol officers responding to a report of gunfire found 20-year-old Stephen Board mortally wounded in a yard of the 510 N. Redondo Dr. home in Oceanside shortly before 4 p.m. Monday.

Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported seeing three men or teenage boys in dark clothing running out of the area to the southwest following the slaying, Lt. Leonard Mata said. The suspects remained at large this afternoon.

"The shooting appears to be gang-related," the lieutenant said.
