Parts of Buccaneer Beach Closed after Sewage Spill

The closure is 1,000 feet north and south of Loma Alta Creek.

Much of Buccaneer beach is closed after a Friday afternoon sewage spill. The line has been fixed, but water contact closures will remain until samples confirm the water is safe for recreational use.

An estimated 3,000-gallon secondary treated sewage spill occurred Friday from a main at Las Salinas Treatment Plant located at 1330 Tait Street in Oceanside.

The spill started 12:15 PM and ended at 1:40 PM when crews from the City of Oceanside waste water workers fixed the line. 

The contaminated water made it to Loma Alta Creek. Signs warning of sewage contamination are posted at Buccaneer Beach from 1,000 feet north and south of the Loma Alta Creek Outlet.
