Pedestrian Walking On I-5 Near Camp Pendleton Fatally Struck By Car
The pedestrian was struck as he crossed the northbound lanes and entered the southbound lanes, according to the CHP.

CAMP PENDLETON, CA — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a car while walking on Interstate 5 early Monday morning in northern San Diego County.
Officers responded to reports of a pedestrian walking on northbound I-5, south of Basilone Road, shortly before at 12:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. As the pedestrian crossed the northbound lanes and entered the southbound lanes, a 21-year-old Fontana man driving a southbound Ford Mustang struck him.
The victim, whose identity was not released, died at the scene.

"The crash remains under investigation," Officer Jared Grieshaber said. "Currently, officers do not suspect alcohol or drugs as factors for the driver. Investigators have not determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role for the pedestrian."
