Pendleton-Based Marine from Moreno Valley Killed in Afghanistan

A Camp Pendleton Marine from Moreno Valley has been killed in Afghanistan, the Pentagon announced Saturday.

Cpl. Anthony R. Servin, 22, died Friday while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, officials said. Servin was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, out of Camp Pendleton.

Moreno Valley is about 40 miles west of Palm Springs in Riverside County.

The incident was under investigation, according to the Defense Department.
