Person Found Dead In Oceanside House Fire
The victim's injuries were not believed to be related to the fire, according to the Oceanside Police and Fire departments.
OCEANSIDE, CA — A person was found dead after an early morning house fire in Oceanside.
The blaze was reported around 3:30 a.m. Monday at a home in the 2000 block of Wedgewood Drive.
First responders found a deceased person outside the residence, according to a joint statement from the Oceanside Police and Fire departments. The victim's injuries were not believed to be related to the fire.

"Preliminary information indicates the individual appeared to have self-inflicted injuries unrelated to the fire," a new release from both departments said.
"In the days leading up to the incident, the individual had been the subject of multiple welfare checks by Oceanside Police following reports of self-harm and mental health concerns," the release said. "Oceanside Police had prior contact with the individual related to concerns about his well-being. Officers took steps to prioritize safety and provide appropriate assistance."

The fire was contained and quickly extinguished, officials said. The Red Cross was providing assistance to others affected by the incident.
The victim's name, age and gender were not immediately released.
The circumstances surrounding the fire and the person's death remained under investigation.
