Update: Missing Oceanside Teen Found

The 14-year-old girl who went missing Sunday night was found Monday afternoon.

On Monday afternoon, a witness spotted a 14-year-old girl who was reported missing Sunday evening and called police. Makaylia Williams was found at the Oceanside Public Library with a 24-year-old male, according to the Oceanside Police Department. Police are questioning the two.

Local law enforcement agencies are searching for a 14-year-old girl who went missing Sunday night after leaving her Oceanside apartment in the 1300 block of Marquette Street.

Makaylia Williams was last seen leaving the apartment to take out the trash at approximately 6:22 p.m., according to Oceanside police.

Williams' mother called police an hour later when she noticed her daughter had not returned. 

Police later found a bag near the apartment in a bush, its contents strewn across the ground.

Approximately 20 officers are searching the surrounding neighborhood for the missing teen.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team is in the process of searching the neighborhood with bloodhounds and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department’s Astrea helicopter has searched the surrounding canyon. The reverse 911 dispatch system has also been activated, leaving a recorded message on the phones in the surrounding neighborhood.

Williams is described as a black female juvenile, 5 feet 4 inches tall, 170 pounds, last seen wearing a summer dress with an orange/tan/white pattern on the fabric.
