POLL: Which GOP Candidate Would You Trust Most to Best Handle Afghanistan?
Candidates Romney, Santorum and Gingrich have been mum on plans for Afghanistan, the Associated Press reports.

Republican presidential candidates Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney have criticized President Obama on his handling of the war in Afghanistan, but none of the GOP candidates have offered alternatives, the Associated Press reports in the Marine Corps Times.
Only Ron Paul — who opposes the war — articulated his plans, the report added.
On his Web site, Mitt Romney lists Afghanistan as a major issue along with Pakistan. Below are related stances on Afghanistan or foreign policy from the candidates' Web pages.

Mitt Romney: "Mitt Romney will never make national-security decisions based upon electoral politics. Upon taking office, he will review our transition to the Afghan military by holding discussions with our commanders in the field."
Rick Santorum: "Victory against the Taliban is when the Taliban is a neutered force and no longer a threat."

Newt Gingrich: "America currently lacks a unified grand strategy for defeating radical Islamism. The result is that we currently view Iraq, Afghanistan, and the many other danger spots of the globe as if they are isolated, independent situations. Only a grand strategy for marginalizing, isolating, and defeating radical Islamists across the world will lead to victory."
Ron Paul: "We certainly shouldn’t be footing the defense bill for countries with whom our industries compete in the global marketplace. Bring our soldiers home. Secure America first."
