Here are the top three stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:

1. The San Diego County Sheriff's Department has charged Darren Amador for prowling in the Cardiff-by-the-Sea community of Encinitas. On Tuesday evening, the man was seen by a resident entering the back yard of a home near the 2100 block of Oxford Avenue. Upon arrival, deputies saw a pick-up truck take off where Amador persisted to speed and run stop signs. Police believe Amador may be connected to other incidents since April in the community based on evidence. (Press Release Desk)
2. A Vista home near the 300 block of N. Melrose Drive was burglarized on Tuesday. A neighbor witnessed Christopher Russell break the front window of the home with a chair and enter the residence. Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department surrounded the home where Russell surrendered peacefully. (San Diego County Sheriff's Department)
3. Marine Corps Capt. Kelsey M. Hastings will make history on Nov. 21 as she assumes the position of Silent Drill Platoon Commander. A Seattle native, Capt. Hastings will assume the position and become the first female to command the platoon. Nov. 21 is the start of the Marine Barracks Washington 2023 parade season where Capt. Hastings will command the 24-Marine rifle platoon. (Press Release Desk)
