🌱 Run With Oside Turkey Trot + Women Saved After Jumping From Pier

Good morning, Oceanside-Camp Pendleton! Like many of you, the Patch staff will be taking some time off for the Thanksgiving holiday, so you won’t see a newsletter from me tomorrow. We’ll be back bright and early Saturday morning, but for now, here’s all the most important things happening in the community.

Here are the top three stories today in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton:

1. Who's ready to get some running in before dinner? Today marks the Thanksgiving tradition of the downtown Oside Turkey Trot. Take a run through the five-mile and 5K courses which have stunning ocean views. There will also be entertainment, a Thanksgiving costume contest, and tons of prizes and cheers for those who finish! 2. Oceanside lifeguards saved a woman who jumped off Oceanside Pier on Tuesday. Law enforcement arrived at the scene just before 11:00 a.m. after multiple reports came in that a person had jumped from the pier. Lifeguards found the woman all the way down at the ocean floor. They were able to rescue her and transport her to a rescue boat where she was then taken to a local hospital. (FOX 5 San Diego)
3. A new air defense battery has been activated in Camp Pendleton. The battery is part of a program to modernize existing ground-based air defense capabilities. This will allow the Marines to continue to streamline and improve ground-based air defenses. The air defense battery was activated by the Third Marine Aircraft Wing. The program began on Nov. 18. (Marines)
