Semi-Truck Crashes Into Starbucks, Injuring Driver And Employee
The vehicle had veered off the roadway and crashed into the building, leaving the driver trapped inside the cab.

OCEANSIDE, CA — A semi-truck crashed into a Starbucks Wednesday morning in northern San Diego County, injuring an employee and the driver and causing significant damage.
The crash happened around 4:45 a.m. at the Starbucks at 801 North Coast Highway in Oceanside, according to the Oceanside Fire Department. The vehicle had veered off the roadway and crashed into the building, leaving the driver trapped inside the cab.
"Due to an active electrical hazard, the removal of the driver was delayed while the area was secured," the department said in a news release.

Employees and customers were evacuated. San Diego Gas and Electric shut down the building's power, allowing firefighters to rescue the driver from the vehicle.
An employee and the driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, officials said.

"We are grateful that no serious injuries occurred, considering the scale of the incident," the department said. "The coordinated efforts of our crews, the Oceanside Police Department and SDG&E ensured a rapid and safe response."
A hazardous materials team from the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department was called out due to a potential rupture in the truck's diesel fuel tank, but no hazardous spills were reported.
Power was shut down in the immediate area after the crash but has since been restored. The building was deemed temporarily unsafe and a complete structural evaluation was pending, officials said.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
