Walk into , on 2003 S. Coast Hwy. and you might see shop owner Chuck Hoefer restoring a 1970s classic road bicycle or threading a brand new wheel spoke by spoke.

On a board in front of the cash register, a picture — taken in the 1960s — shows Hoefer as a child with his hands on a cruiser. Near it hangs an almost identical photo of his father with a bicycle taken more than two decades before.
