Tri-City Keeps Watchful Eye on Seniors Living Alone

What a difference it can make to hear a friendly voice every day.

Members of the Tri-City Hospital Auxiliary at Tri-City Medical Center are providing a free non-medical calling service called Tele-Care. The service is designed for seniors or community members who live alone, spend extended periods of time alone or just need some extra support.

Members of the Auxiliary will call seniors whose names are on a list between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. every day. Seniors might like a daily reminder to take their medication or they simply might enjoy the opportunity for conversation. They can tell us about their family, friends, pets and interests and we’ll tell them about ours.

To get your name on the list, seniors or children of elderly parents can register for the service by contacting the Tri-City Hospital Auxiliary office at 760.940.3125 or Auxiliary@tcmc.com

As an additional feature of the program, an Auxiliary member will collect the name and phone number of a neighbor who can serve as a back-up in case of an emergency.

These types of calling programs have been credited with saving the lives of senior citizens. This service is designed to give seniors the peace of mind that someone will be checking on them to make sure they are OK.2
