Lance Cpl. Jason N. Barfield, 22, of Ashford, Ala., died Monday of wounds sustained while conducting combat operations. He was a combat engineer assigned to 3rd Combat Engineer Battalion.
On Monday, Lance Cpl. Jordan S. Bastean, 19, of Pekin, Ill., died while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment.
