Video: Two Women Caught on Camera Stealing Halloween Decorations

The Grinch brought a friend and struck a North Oceanside neighborhood early this holiday season.

Two women were caught on surveillance camera early Monday morning apparently stealing Halloween decorations from three Del Mesa Street homes.

“Why would two adult women feel like this was OK—that they could come onto our properties and steal something that did not belong to them. And really take away the joy of a lot of other people,” said Leslie Denny, who said she lost about $100 worth of decorations.

Her next-door neighbor lost twice as much, but caught two women on a surveillance camera.

Denny reported the matter to Oceanside Police Department.

“They said that we should not have hesitated about calling them,” she said. “Because, basically, the only way they know about petty crime in neighborhoods is if they're contacted.”

Another neighbor’s surveillance camera saw the women emerge from a red car.

Denny said she won’t be replacing the items this year, but she will still dress up as a witch and hand out candy.

“I've been a Halloween fan since I was a little kid and I felt like growing up should never be a hindrance to continue enjoying Halloween,” she said. “It's just always been the imagination holiday for me.”
