'Violent Fight' Leads To Shooting, SWAT Standoff In North County
A woman was accused of threatening her boyfriend with a knife and then shooting him during a fight, sheriff's officials said.
FALLBROOK, CA — A woman was accused of threatening her boyfriend with a knife and then shooting him during a fight, prompting an hours-long standoff at their trailer home in northern San Diego County.
Deputies responded to a report of a shooting shortly before 1 a.m. Monday at a home in the 100 block of Avo Drive in Fallbrook, where they found a man suffering from a bullet graze wound to the head, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies learned that Devin Jones, 44, and the victim had been "involved in a violent argument" inside their trailer, Lt. Darrell McNeal said.

"During the altercation, Jones held a knife and made threats to harm her boyfriend, though no stabbing occurred," McNeal said. "He managed to take the knife away from Jones and took the opportunity to leave the trailer, removing himself from the situation. While the boyfriend was outside, Jones remained inside, retrieved a rifle and fired through the trailer window, striking him in the head."
The man was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for a minor skull laceration and released later in the day, McNeal said.

"The emergency room doctor noted the injury could have been fatal if the bullet had deviated slightly," McNeal noted.
Following the shooting, Jones barricaded herself inside the trailer, prompting a response from deputies, as well as a SWAT team. The standoff continued until around 5:30 a.m., when deputies were able to take Jones into custody.
Jones was booked into Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility in Santee on suspicion of attempted murder and criminal threats.
