Oceanside residents can vote online through June 1 to choose the city's two official trees.
Trees will be selected in two categories: native/naturalized and ornamental.
The native/naturalized choices include the coast live oak, Torrey pine, western redbud and sweet bay. Ornamental options include the Chinese pistache, marina strawberry, Chinese flame, gold medallion and Guadalupe palm.
The city's web page for the vote – ci.oceanside.ca.us/gov/pw/official- city-tree/default.asp – includes a link to descriptions and photos of each tree.
The winners will be announced at a City Council meeting, and the two types of trees will be planted at a city park.
