Witness: Teen Jumps off Pier with a Bottle of Whiskey in His Hands (Video)

A woman, then a lifeguard jumped in after him.

A 17-year-old jumped off the Oceanside Pier with a bottle of whiskey in his hands at about 9:30 p.m. Monday, according to Oceanside resident Juan Sanchez.

Sanchez lowered a net to the teen and another person jumped in to save the apparently intoxicated teen, witnesses said. 

Rescue crews arrived and a lifeguard jumped in to save a man and woman in the water, according to conversations on the police scanner.

A boat picked up the swimmers.

The group of teens left the scene, according to Sanchez.

"They bailed on him," he said. "As soon as they saw him jump in, they took off."

One witness said he heard the jumper say he was injured. The teen seemed safe when he was being questioned on shore, Sanchez said.

On Friday, a 17-year-old girl was rescued by a teen lifeguard at Oceanside's north jetty near the harbor.
