Woman Found Dead At North County Home

VISTA, CA — Authorities were investigating after a woman was found dead inside a North County home and a man at the same home was taken to a hospital.

Deputies responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of Columbus Way in Vista, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies found an 81-year-old woman deceased who had "signs of trauma," and an 82-year-old man in the home with similar signs, sheriff's Lt. Aloha Peters said. Paramedics took the man to a hospital.

No other information about their injuries or their relationship were immediately released.

Due to the "suspicious nature of the incident," the Homicide Unit took over the investigation.

"Based on the information gathered so far, this appears to be an isolated incident," Peters said. "There is no apparent danger to the community. The investigation is ongoing."
