- If you plan to purchase Super Bowl tickets to see the Los Angeles Rams play the Cincinnati Bengals this weekend, you may have to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars for parking. Some tickets to park at Sunday’s big event at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood are more expensive than some of the seats to watch the game. Close parking spaces were priced over $4,000 on Tuesday, the same price as some seats to watch the game. Inglewood officials noted that fans have other options to get to the game, including ride-sharing or public transportation. The Metro is offering an express shuttle from its Hawthorne/Lennox Station on game day, Feb. 13, from 11 a.m. until kickoff, planned for 3:30 p.m. You can read more about this story here: (KTLA)
- "Poop sleuths" discovered a previously unknown COVID-19 gene sequence in California’s sewage. Experts are "puzzled" by the unusual sequences found in wastewater, but not in humans. The discovery is proof that the fast-changing virus is continuing to create new survival strategies. The odd COVID-19 mutation was first detected in "an undisclosed location" by UC Berkeley scientists. Should we be worried? No one knows seems to know the answer, but scientists say it's troubling that the changes might make it more transmissible or evasive. One theory is that the virus changes when it remains in someone with a weak immune system for a long time, perhaps in a long-term care facility, where it has an opportunity to evolve. There are numerous theories. The UC Berkeley wastewater screening project is a leader in the nation’s search for the COVID-19 virus in wastewater, where it can easily be detected. - If you fly out of the John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, Delta Airlines is taking steps to help keep flights pleasant for all passengers. Delta Air Lines requested that the U.S. Department of Justice put any person convicted of causing a disruption on board a flight on the national “no fly” list. In a letter to Justice Department Attorney General Merrick Garland on Thursday, Delta CEO Ed Bastian said there should be “zero tolerance” for any behavior that affects flight safety. While incidents of bad behavior represent a small fraction of Delta flights, the rate of incidents on the airline has "increased nearly 100 percent" since 2019, he said. In December, the TSA announced a new partnership with the FAA to remove unruly passengers from its pre-check screening eligibility, "a privilege reserved for low-risk travelers."
