  1. The Costa Mesa Police Department is asking for the public's help to find a hit-and-run driver who killed a man in a wheelchair Thursday night. Police are searching for a 2009 or 2010 black Toyota Highlander with front-end damage. Richard Smith, 50, of Newport Beach, was struck by the car and thrown from his wheelchair. He died after being transported to the hospital, police said. The collision happened around 11:30 p.m. near Newport Boulevard and Industrial Way. Anyone with surveillance footage or who witnessed the collision or has any information that can help is asked to contact Luis Gomez, a police traffic investigator, at 714-754-5264. 2. If you live in Irvine, Amazon will be a lot closer to home. Amazon has reportedly struck a deal to occupy an entire building at the new Spectrum Terrace office campus in Irvine, a newly built collection of offices and amenity space from The Irvine Co. Amazon plans to occupy the building at 17300 Laguna Canyon Road, the Orange County Business Journal reported. It's one of three new buildings that Irvine Co. built during the first phase of its Spectrum Terrace project. The "sizable lease" is welcome news as Orange County’s office market pick's up.
