BNSF Freight Trained Derailed In Southland

ORANGE COUNTY, CA -- A BSNF freight train was derailed Sunday afternoon in Vernon, about five miles south of downtown Los Angeles. Officials said the train caused a delay in the 663 Metrolink line from Orange County to Los Angeles.

The train was reportedly derailed just after 1:30 p.m. between Sierra Pine Avenue and Indiana Street.

Train officials said passengers should expect a delay of about 20 minutes.

No other information was immediately available.
