Here are the top stories today in Orange County:

1. Two large sand projects for OC beaches were funded on Tuesday when President Biden signed a budget bill. The massive beach buffers are planned to fight the ongoing battle with beach erosion. Millions of dollars will be spent to shore up two large sections of Orange County beaches that are disappearing. Local communities have waited several years for funding. 2. It's official! The United States Post Office is hiring. They are looking to hire assistant mail carriers for shifts in several Orange County cities, with pay starting at $19 per hour. The agency will host three local job fairs to help applicants create an "online employment profile" to immediately apply for jobs. The events will be on Wednesday, March 16, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Laguna Beach Post Office, 29911 Niguel Road; on Wednesday, March 23, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dana Point Post Office, 14551 Del Prado; and on Wednesday, March 30, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the San Juan Capistrano Post Office, 28081 Marguerite Parkway, Mission Viejo. 3. A $400 million redevelopment project to upgrade Dana Point Harbor promises to revitalize the only public access harbor in Orange County. Dana Point Harbor boater George Hughes said during a March 7 interview that the docks are in disrepair, and some are "tilting" and "even sinking into the channel," while boaters like Hughes are seeing rate increases of up to 95 percent. No work has started on the project. Harbor board representative Lisa Bartlett, who chose Joe Ueberroth and his redevelopment firm to take on the $400 million contract, told boaters that one prong of the redevelopment plan includes a luxury hotel, but will also include a hotel that is low-cost and affordable.
