Here are the top stories in Orange County today:

  1. On World Oceans Day, environmental groups were joined by four Southern California representatives to speak out against Amplify Energy's plan to use a "streamlined' permitting process to repair and restart the use of its broken pipeline. The damaged pipeline poured 25,000 gallons of crude oil into the ocean off of Huntington Beach. Democratic lawmakers from parts of Orange, Los Angeles, and San Diego counties sent a letter to four federal agencies raising the alarm over a plan by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to "let Amplify start using the 42-year-old pipeline again." The letter noted it's a "decades-old, subsea pipeline" with "aging infrastructure," that poses a threat to ecologically sensitive marine resources, coastal economy, and communities. 2. A Gold Medal was stolen from an Olympian's car on May 25 when it was parked in a garage in the 1500 block of East Lincoln Avenue in Anaheim. The Anaheim Police Department said several items were stolen from the car of Olympic volleyball player Jordyn Poulter, 25, including the gold medal she won at the Tokyo Olympics. An Anaheim man was charged with the thefts on Tuesday. You can read more about this story here: (Orange County Patch)
