- O.C.'s building boom is in full swing. Garden Grove is "roaring back" from the shadow of the coronavirus pandemic. Projects of huge hotels, new eateries, and brand-new office space will transform areas of Garden Grove. The projects are set to begin "in the near future," according to Lisa Kim, assistant city manager and director of community and economic development. (Orange County Tribune)
- A nonprofit is offering free back-to-school Supplies for Orange County families! Any school-aged child who receives a physical examination can receive free school supplies. A recent survey found that parents are planning to spend "$661 per child, on average, this upcoming school year." That's an increase of 8 percent from last year." "Our hope is that families who take part in the program this summer will enter the new school year feeling confident and healthy.” The program started Tuesday and runs through Aug. 31 while supplies last. - Trader Joe's has recalled its popular snickerdoodle cookies for possible contamination. Trader Joe's announced a recall of its popular soft-baked snickerdoodle cookies this week, due to possible plastic contamination. The product being recalled for possible contamination with hard plastic pieces is Trader Joe’s Soft-Baked Snickerdoodles (SKU# 94075, BB (Best By) Date 02/03/2023). In an online statement, the retailer said: "If you purchased any Soft-Baked Snickerdoodles, please do not eat them. We urge you to discard the product or return it to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund," the company added. "We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience." (ABC News)
- Two Chanel stores, one in Beverly Grove and the other in Newport Beach Fashion Island. had items stolen and property damage in a "smash-and-grab" only 12 hours apart from one another. The burglary at Beverly Grove occurred at around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Police said that a white van was recovered, but there is no description of the other two vehicles involved. Five individuals were taken into custody. (NBC Southern California)
