Here are the top stories today in Orange County:

  1. Orange County may be getting a Gas Tax Holiday. In Governor Gavin Newsom's budget, he is proposing a Gas Tax Holiday that eliminates the gas tax increase The Golden State was expecting this summer for an inflation adjustment on gasoline. The tax was set to hit Californians in July. With state revenues at an all-time high, Newsom told reporters that in terms of the tax that budget would "backfill it" to transportation projects so that there's "no direct impact to investments." After the pandemic, we could all use a holiday. You can read the full story here: (Orange County Patch)
  2. 'Chuze' to bring a furry friend home with you on Saturday! Chuze Fitness is hosting a "Chuze To Adopt" event on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m at Wags Pet Adoptions on 6621 Westminster Avenue, and Chuze will cover all of the pet adoption fees. Dogs, cats, and other pets are waiting to find a loving home, and you just may find your new best pal. You can find out more here: (Orange County Patch)
  3. Wedding bells are ringing online. The Orange County Clerk-Recorder announced they will offer virtual marriage services for Orange County couples with the recent surge in COVID-19 cases. The virtual marriage services will be by appointment only, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The online marriage service will limit exposure to crowds and potential exposure to COVID-19, county officials said in a statement. In Orange County, there are more than 1,000 patients hospitalized with serious COVID-19 infections, with more than 11,000 new cases on Wednesday. A marriage service is a happy occasion, even if for now, it's celebrated online. You can find out more here: (Orange County Patch)
