Driver Runs Red Light Seriously Injuring 3 Boys Crossing Street

The three teenage boys suffered major injuries when struck by a red light runner.

GARDEN GROVE, CA — Three teenage boys trying to cross a street in Garden Grove suffered major injuries Thursday when they were struck by an SUV whose driver ran a red light, police said.

The boys were conscious and breathing when they were taken to a hospital, Garden Grove police Officer Robert Gifford said.

The accident occurred about 6 p.m. when the boys were in a crosswalk on Kerry Street near Brookhurst Street, Gifford said.

The man driving the SUV remained at the scene as required by law and was cooperating with police, Gifford said.
