- A horse from the J. F. Shea Therapeutic Riding Center, Choco, was rescued last year after being wedged in a gully. The Orange County Fire Authority had to partially dig the horse out and lifted him to safety with a helicopter. The San Juan Capistrano riding program learned that firefighters don't always practice with live animals. The Shea Center leaders had OCFA and other local fire departments meet real horses to get more comfortable with their behavior and learn the basics about how to handle a horse. - A lawsuit against the LA Angels will test The Baseball Rule, an expectation by judges that anyone walking into a ball stadium accepts the risk they may get hit by a ball, when a six-year-old boy was struck in the head by a ball and seriously injured during practice, hours before the game began. The boy was walking with his father to the dugout to get autographs. As crowds return to Angels Stadium with the Major League Baseball Season starting up this week, fan safety when sitting or walking around a large baseball stadium is being questioned. - Visually impaired and blind young people in Orange County can take part in an Easter egg hunt of their own this Saturday in Newport Beach, thanks to the Orange County Sheriff's Department. The sheriff's department's bomb squad teamed up with local nonprofit organization Beyond Blindness to host the special Easter egg hunt at the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort at 11:30 a.m. where the young people can participate in the Easter egg hunt using audio beeping cues.
